High Atlas and Marrakesh π²π¦ - Back into Traffic

Over the pass
Now we really are leaving the wild country south of the Atlas, because today we cross the High Atlas and drive to Marrakesh.
The route runs partly through a narrow valley and climbs a series of hairpins. At the top of the pass we take a short photo stop in cold wind - we had almost forgotten what cold even is over the last few days.

And the colours of these mountains - remarkable.

Afterwards the roads get busier and busier until we are in the traffic chaos of Marrakesh. First a shopping mall for fresh supplies, then our last shared stopping place as a group, in the south of the city.

The last day of the tour
Today is essentially a lie-in: no training, no long drives. Simply waking up in sunshine at the campsite and doing nothing for a while.

A day with no programme
Our group does have one final item on the agenda though: a visit to the medina, followed by a farewell dinner.
So we head towards the city centre in the trucks, complete with Marrakesh-style traffic, and line ourselves up neatly in a car park - with the marshal’s blessing. We have barely finished when the police turn up and send us away again: because of a police congress, the whole area is a security zone.

Parking in Marrakesh, attempt one
Back at the campsite the evening turns comfortable after all - and it makes a good close to 17 days together.
