Poland 🇵🇱 and Saxon Switzerland 🇩🇪 - storks and rocks
Sven Walther
Through the gap into Poland
We continue through the Suwałki Gap into Poland. Just past the border we make our first stop: stocking up on supplies and topping up the diesel tank at local prices. Then it is out of the centre of Suwałki to a suburb, where we find a small pitch right by the lake. We spend our first night in Poland with water outside the door.
Masuria
The next day we continue to the Masurian Lake District. Near Ukta we settle on a well-kept pitch set nicely in the green. And apparently the storks are firmly part of the inventory here: they simply walk across the site.

The stork comes very close
Lou is less impressed by the neighbour than you would expect, but keeps a very close eye on him.

In the evening we go through flower meadows in which Lou almost disappears, and then once more across the grounds at sunset.

In the village itself a small, fine restaurant awaits, recommended to us from all sides. The recommendations are absolutely justified: very nice, very cosy and above all very tasty.

Back in Germany
The last few days we covered a good distance: straight across Poland, and at Görlitz it is back into Germany. Just before the border the diesel tank is of course filled once more. Barely across the border another pitch of the slightly more unusual kind is waiting: an airfield.
From there we continue to Saxon Switzerland. And of course the obligatory question at the reception comes up here too: “Are you sure that your vehicle fits on our site?” Yes. It fits.
A hike through the impressive rock landscape is of course a must. We set off for the Lampertsstein and enjoy the view from above. Narrow gaps and ladders lead up between the rocks, and we squeeze through them with backpack and dog. Lou bears it with dignity when she is carried once again.

Bastei
The next day the weekend is unfortunately over again. So for Sven it is: laptop out and work, this time from the car park at the Bastei. While Saskia looks at the famous tourist attraction, Sven turns Mammothon into a rolling office again. And by the way he even meets new Instagram followers in person.

That is what our everyday life looks like by now: Saskia hikes, Sven works, and the workplace keeps changing.
