Valencia and Catalonia 🇪🇸 - Fallas, Fog and Farewell
Sven Walther
Valencia
Valencia is always worth a visit. This is already our third time here.
Once again coincidence catches us out: it is Las Fallas, the festival welcoming spring. The city is full of sculptures, and there is no shortage of fireworks either.

Artworks everywhere

Valencia during Las Fallas
I fly out on business again and manage to run into the Lufthansa strike while I am at it - on the plus side, this time there are aerial shots.

Valencia from above
Leaving involves a bit of shopping: IKEA, Decathlon, the supermarket - and the tyre dealer. The front wheels are now nicely new as well.
Fog near Barcelona
For the next stop we have again picked somewhere remote in nature, this time a little outside Barcelona in the Parc Natural de Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac.

This mountain, of all of them
Perfect weather for the entire drive - except the exact mountain we end up on, which is buried in thick fog and rain.

Paths barely recognisable as paths
So it becomes an adventurous climb up the mountain, on routes that really cannot be identified as paths. Because of the cloud we can only guess at how beautiful it must be up there.

Maybe next time
If we are ever back in the region and the weather cooperates, we will definitely return.
Last stop in Spain
One last stop in Spain: we are parked on the Costa Brava right by the sea. And we realise that a few years ago we stayed only a few hundred metres away with the caravan.

Right by the sea
Right next to us lies a nature reserve full of birds - flamingos here too.

Aiguamolls de l’Empordà
The rainfall of recent months has put everything under water, though. Some paths are closed, and the one we take would in places have been better tackled in wellies.

Wellies would have been the better choice
We are going to miss Spain.
