Switzerland 🇨🇠- Bern and the First Snow
Sven Walther
Bern
Time for a new flag. We had actually intended to stay another two or three days in the Rhône valley - but it is pouring. So instead we cover ground and drive, with a short stop in Lausanne, to Bern.

Bern
The semi-official Swiss capital - officially the “federal city” - had already won me over on various business visits. Now there was finally time to explore it properly and show Saskia and Lou a few corners.

Time to take it in properly
Then, while I got back to work, Saskia hiked up the Gurten. The funicular was of course ignored entirely.

From Zurich we head, with a short stop in Thun, over the Brünig Pass to Lake Lucerne.

We notice immediately that we have got ourselves fairly deep into the mountains - and so try winter camping with Mammothon for the first time, more or less by accident.

Winter camping, unplanned
Saskia does a long loop out onto the nearby peninsula and has to fight her way through the snow. At the weekend we walk the route again together - this time without snow, but still demanding enough.
